As reflection on the civil year that is coming to a close and on the new liturgical year that is about to begin, Bro. René Stockman has written an Advent Letter to his Brothers, Associate Members and Collaborators in the Apostolate.
On Wednesday 20 October 2021, in DR Congo, a new wing of the ‘Complexe Scolaire de la Charité’ was opened in Goma by the Superior General of the Brothers of Charity, Bro. dr. René Stockman.
In Uvira, DR Congo, where the Brothers of Charity have been active since 1994 with some interruption, a brother professed his perpetual vows for the first time on 17 October.
On 9 October 2021, during a beautiful ceremony in Kigali, Rwanda, Brother Jean Damascène Barindira professed his perpetual vows as a Brother of Charity. The Superior General, Brother René Stockman, accepted his profession.
In the International Novitiate in Nairobi, 23 young men received the religious habit of the Brothers of Charity on Saturday, 28 August 2021, thus beginning their novitiate training.
Due to the COVID-19-pandemia several religious professions had to be postponed. During the last visit of the Superior General, Bro. René Stockman, to Rwanda and Burundi, four novices who had followed the novitiate formation in the Philippines could pronounce their first profession and one brother of DR Congo, student in Burundi, could pronounce his final vows.
Brother René Stockman has published a new book titled ‘Be Merciful, As Your Father is Merciful’.
On Saturday, 13 February 2021, seven brothers made their perpetual profession of vows as members of the Congregation of the Brothers of Charity in Kigoma, Tanzania.
Their profession had already been planned for last year, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but now finally, during the visit of the Superior General to the region, these brothers were able to commit themselves to the Congregation forever.
