Ndera, Rwanda. Fifty years ago, the Caraes Ndera psychiatric centre was founded by the Congregation of the Brothers of Charity, which they celebrated on 15 June 2018.
On Wednesday, 13 June 2018, the completed psychiatric centre in Ngozi was officially opened. In addition to Bujumbura (Kamenge) and Gitega, Ngozi is now the third functioning psychiatric centre of the Brothers of Charity in Burundi.

Bangui, Central African Republic – 16 February 2018. During the visit of Superior General Bro. René Stockman to the brothers in the Central African Republic, Cardinal Dieudonné Nzapalainga, archbishop of Bangui, blessed the new psychiatric centre.
Johannesburg, South Africa – 19 January 2018. In the early morning, Bro. Constantino Kaunda, Regional Superior of the Saint Paul region, and Bro. Antoine Colpaert, Regional Bursar and Superior of the Florida community, lost their lives in a terrible accident in Johannesburg on their way from the airport to the convent in Florida. The Congregation lost two very valuable members in these two brothers.
In the Provincial House of the Lazarists in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Bro. Dawnson and Bro. Godfrey professed their perpetual vows.
On Tuesday 9 January 2018, the first important step was taken in the development of a small-scale day centre for children with intellectual disabilities in Yirgachaffe, Ethiopia.
