In Uvira, DR Congo, where the Brothers of Charity have been active since 1994 with some interruption, a brother professed his perpetual vows for the first time on 17 October.
During the Sunday Eucharist, presided over by Bishop Sébastien Muyengo Mulombe, who also announced the extensive programme for the local synod, Brother Alain Asila Musole made his perpetual profession in the hands of Superior General Brother René Stockman, who is on a canonical visit to the Congregation’s Our Lady of Loreto region.
The Superior General took the opportunity to visit the former community building, which is currently completely under water after last year’s floods, as well as the new psychiatric centre, which is nearing completion but is currently in an unsafe area, so that the opening will have to be postponed. In the meantime, steps are being taken to prepare a small house for the brothers and some rooms for the consultation of psychiatric patients.
For the faithful in the city of Uvira, it was a great opportunity to get to know the Brothers of Charity.
