From 2 to 6 December 2016, the General Council met with the provincial superiors for their annual meeting. This time, Indonesia was chosen as the meeting place.
There was ample focus on life in the provinces, presented by the provincial superiors. Next, a first step was taken to establish the theme for the General Chapter of 2018. This theme will be further explored at the next meeting of the General Council and the provincial and regional superiors in Rome in April 2017.
Finally, the various committees discussed their activities and current affairs were considered. The meeting was followed by a visit to the various houses in Java. For the superiors, it was a perfect opportunity to get to know our oldest region in Asia. For our Indonesian brothers, the visit from the General Council and the provincial superiors served as a true encouragement. The visit ends on 16 December when all the councillors and provincial superiors will have returned home. The superior general already left the group for Sri Lanka on 7 December to lead a retreat with the Sisters of Charity and also to pay a brief visit to the houses.
