On Friday, 19 May 2017, Halewijn, a publishing house, presented a new book by Bro. René Stockman at the Guislain Formation Centre in Ghent.
‘De fragiele mens’, or ‘The fragile human’, is a book in which the author thoroughly reflects on what it means to be fragile in today’s society in both a negative and a positive sense. In the end, he concludes that fragility could very well be a unique strength, or, in the words of Paul, “For it is when I am weak that I am strong.”
During the event, four panel members shared their views of fragility starting from their own backgrounds and experiences: Marc Eneman, a psychiatrist; Herman Wouters, a remedial education specialist; Marc Van de Voorde, an essayist; and Christoffel Waelkens, an astronomer. Near the end, Bro. René Stockman presented the book himself with a story and a consideration. As usual, there was also a book signing. It was a rewarding evening with testimonies that went down very well.
